Aldi Recalls Honey-Roasted Hot Smoked Salmon Over Wrong Use-By Date

Regulators say the misprint could lead people to eat the ready-to-eat fish past its true expiry, raising a food poisoning risk.

Overview

  • The Food Standards Agency issued the recall Tuesday, April 14, under reference FSA-PRIN-18-2026 after finding a use-by date error.
  • The 180g Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets – Honey Roasted were printed with 25 June 2026 instead of the correct 25 April 2026.
  • Aldi has removed the product from stores in England, Scotland and Wales and is displaying point-of-sale notices that will remain until May 13.
  • Aldi said the supplier launched the recall as a precaution and the supermarket apologised to customers.
  • Shoppers are told not to eat the salmon and can return it to any store for a full refund without a receipt, as use-by dates indicate safety because harmful bacteria can grow even when food looks or smells normal.
