Overview
- The 8ft-tall, 12ft-long Cuthbert topiary is now on display at Aldi’s Pacific Drive store in Eastbourne until December 22.
- Before arriving in Eastbourne, the sculpture toured Brighton landmarks including the Palace Pier and the Royal Pavilion.
- In a nod to the rivalry with Marks & Spencer’s Colin the Caterpillar, the topiary stopped outside the M&S on Western Road in Brighton.
- Decorated with baubles, fairy lights, a Santa hat and festive shoes, the display drew photos and posts from passersby on social media.
- Aldi’s chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield called Cuthbert an Aldi icon, and the Cuthbert cake is on sale in stores at £6.99 for 625g.
