Aldi, Lidl and Norma Announce Permanent Coffee Price Cuts Up to €1.50

Falling bean costs prompt retailers to pass savings to shoppers.

Overview

  • The reductions, effective from March 9, apply to private-label whole beans, ground coffee and coffee pads across German discounter stores.
  • At Lidl, Bellarom Kaffee Rosso 1,000 g drops from €11.49 to €9.99, with several other 1 kg Bellarom varieties reduced by €1.00.
  • Aldi lowers numerous Barissimo items by up to €1.50, including Espresso Tradizione 1,000 g now €9.99 at Aldi Süd, with smaller cuts on 500 g packs and pads.
  • Norma trims prices by up to about 9% on its Rösta and Caffeciao ranges, including 1 kg Caffeciao packs now €11.99 and multiple 500 g Rösta lines €0.50–€0.60 cheaper.
  • Both retailers attribute the move to lower raw-material prices; Aldi says this continues its tenth reduction round this year as competition among discounters tightens.
