Overview
- Throughout April, Aldi is asking shoppers nationwide to leave pet food at year-round in-store collection points for National Pet Month.
- All donated items go to nearby charities and community groups through Aldi’s partner platform Neighbourly.
- Aldi says the Neighbourly link has helped deliver the equivalent of more than 50 million meals since 2019 by redirecting surplus food.
- The appeal responds to a PDSA finding that 86% of pet owners face higher costs, which has driven more requests for basic pet supplies.
- Alongside the pet appeal, Aldi will provide a further 1.2 million meals this year through The Bread and Butter Thing after a pilot at three distribution hubs.
