Overview
- Víctor de Aldama testified to Spain’s Supreme Court that senior officials tried to guide the sale of SEPI’s Campos Velázquez site and that Begoña Gómez wanted the complex for the Instituto de Empresa, prompting him to pull his bid.
- He said a Hong Kong fund called Platinum, working through his firm Pilot Real Estate, filed a written offer of about €203 million before VAT for the 40,000-square-meter property that houses SEPI, Navantia and IE as a tenant.
- Carlos Moreno, then chief of staff to Finance Minister María Jesús Montero, confirmed he passed Aldama’s offer to the state patrimony office and processed a tax-debt deferral request for Pilot, while denying Aldama’s claim of a cash envelope.
- Anti-corruption chief prosecutor Alejandro Luzón says the requested tax deferral was never approved, SEPI declined to detail the offers it received, and IE denies taking part in the deal and points to a contract clause barring misuse of family ties.
- Aldama also described separate contacts with Venezuelan officials and unusual payment ideas such as diamonds or crypto, elements that remain under judicial scrutiny and could broaden the scope of the case.
