Alchemy Connects AgentCard to Visa Network for AI Agent Purchases

The integration lets autonomous software agents use Visa-issued tokens to make real online purchases, preserving card rewards and credit lines.

Overview

  • Alchemy confirmed on June 18, 2026 that AgentCard now links to Visa Intelligent Commerce so AI agents can initiate and complete purchases using Visa-issued token credentials.
  • Each provisioned agent receives an identity package that includes a dedicated email address, a phone number, a crypto wallet, and enforceable spending controls with real-time transaction tracking.
  • Alchemy’s companion product AgentPay is in open beta and routes payment instructions across card and crypto rails without custodying funds, acting as a protocol-agnostic translation layer for merchants and developers.
  • AgentCard defaults to Visa tokens today to maximize merchant acceptance but is explicitly roadmapped to support crypto and emerging agent-native payment protocols as merchant support grows, and current rollout is focused on developers and early access.
  • The deal accelerates industry competition between card networks and web3 firms but raises open questions about fraud, identity verification, liability allocation, and concentration risk that regulators and businesses will need to address.
