Overview
- Producers officially announced the national tour on Thursday, July 30, 2026, naming RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Alaska Thunderf*ck and Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee as the principal stars.
- The tour launches September 19, 2026, at Hartford’s Bushnell and will visit cities that include Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
- ATG San Francisco’s Curran Theatre will present the show Oct. 13–Nov. 1, 2026, in a copresentation with the American Conservatory Theater, with additional dates and casting to be announced at OhMaryPlay.com.
- Casting is scheduled so that Alaska plays Mary through Jan. 17, 2027 with Ghee as Mary’s Husband, and Ghee will take over the role of Mary beginning Jan. 19, 2027 in Chicago, becoming the first performer to play both parts.
- The touring production reunites director Sam Pinkleton and the original creative team, building on the play’s path from an extended 2024 Off-Broadway run to a Broadway transfer that recouped its $4.5 million investment and won two Tony Awards, a success likely to broaden audiences for regional theaters.
