Overview
- Alaska Airlines, which launched the service Tuesday, April 28, operated inaugural Flight 180 from Seattle to Rome on a Boeing 787-9.
- The route runs daily through October 23 and gives Seattle travelers the only nonstop link to Rome.
- The 787-9 flies in Alaska’s new global livery and features 34 international business suites as the carrier rolls out its long-haul product.
- Alaska also began daily nonstop cargo on the route, becoming the first U.S. passenger airline to do so and expanding its cargo network to 109 destinations.
- Next up are year-round Seattle–London flights starting May 21 and planned Starlink Wi‑Fi on all 787-9s this fall, with Tokyo service returning later in 2026.
