- The Alameda County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved transferring 8215 MacArthur Blvd. to the Black Cultural Zone Community Development Corporation for a nominal $10 on Wednesday.
- The county will cancel roughly $1.7 million in back taxes, penalties and city liens attached to the parcel as part of the transfer.
- The sale still requires review and sign-off from the California State Controller, a process county officials expect will take a month or more.
- BCZ says it will clear and activate the lot right away with community uses such as markets and events and will later pursue affordable housing plans that it warns will need tens of millions in financing.
