Alabama High School Coach Indicted on 32 Counts Alleging Sex Crimes With Student

An arraignment set for May 22 will be the next step in the case.

Overview

  • The 32-count grand jury indictment, returned Tuesday, charges Paige Adams with one count of a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student, one count of sexual contact with a pupil under 19, and 30 counts of distributing obscene material.
  • She was arrested and later released on a $225,000 bond and must wear an electronic monitoring device, according to local reports.
  • Court documents obtained by WIAT-TV state Adams sent obscene material to the student at least 28 times between February 13 and March 9 and twice solicited such material on March 16 before resigning March 25.
  • Cullman County Schools said a complaint triggered an immediate investigation, after which Adams resigned, returned district property, and was escorted from campus as the case was referred to authorities.
  • Her husband, Drew Adams, who coaches the boys team at the same school, filed for divorce on April 6 and sought sole custody, following a season in which her girls team reached the state championship title game.
