Ajinomoto Recalls 3.37 Million Pounds of Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice Over Possible Glass

Consumers are urged to discard bags marked P-18356 pending an investigation into the contamination source.

Overview

  • USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service designated the action a Class I recall after four consumer complaints reported glass in the product.
  • The recall covers 20-ounce Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice shipped nationwide and 1.53-kg Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese‑style Fried Rice exported only to Canada.
  • Affected items were produced Sept. 8–Nov. 17, 2025, with best-by dates spanning Sept. 8–Nov. 17, 2026 for Trader Joe’s and Sept. 9–Nov. 12, 2026 for Ajinomoto export packs.
  • No confirmed injuries have been reported, but officials caution some recalled product may still be in retail or home freezers.
  • Consumers should not eat the products and should discard them or return them for a refund; questions can be directed to Ajinomoto Consumer Affairs at 855-742-5011 or customercare@ajinomotofoods.com.
