Airlines Set May Half-Term Arrival and Bag-Drop Rules for UK Airports

The advice targets holiday crowds that slow airport lines.

Overview

  • Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2 and TUI issued half-term guidance that urges travelers to arrive early, keep documents handy and check flight status before leaving for the airport.
  • Ryanair tells passengers to reach the airport at least two hours before departure and to be at the gate 30 minutes before takeoff, and bookings made through online travel agents still need in-person verification.
  • easyJet warns that bag drop at most UK airports closes 40 minutes before departure, with some airports or routes closing at 60 minutes, and it offers an evening “Twilight” bag drop for morning flights at selected airports.
  • Jet2 advises arriving at least two hours before flying, opens most check-in desks about two and a half hours before departure, closes them 40 minutes before takeoff and provides Twilight Check-in at some UK airports.
  • TUI opens check-in at least 2.5 hours before short and mid‑haul flights and 3.5 hours before long‑haul flights, and it says hand‑luggage‑only customers who checked in online can head straight to security while one person can bag‑drop for a group on the same booking.
