Overview
- Air New Zealand unveiled Skynest, a set of six lie-flat bunk pods that economy and premium economy passengers can book for sleep on select Auckland–New York flights.
- Bookings open in May with service slated to begin in November on the airline’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
- Each session costs from NZD $495 for a four-hour block designed around a natural sleep cycle, with only two sessions offered per flight and fresh bedding between uses.
- Pods come with a full-length mattress, pillow, sheets and blanket, a privacy curtain, ambient lighting, ventilation, power and USB ports, a reading light, storage, a seat belt, and a “Nestcessities” kit with an eye mask, earplugs, socks and skincare.
- Rules bar food, bed sharing and children in the pods, set the minimum age at 15, require young kids not be left alone in seats, and ask passengers to avoid strong perfumes, with earplugs provided to help with snoring nearby.
