Air India Suspends Tel AvivDelhi Service Until July 31

The airline said ongoing regional security uncertainty and higher fuel and rerouting costs have driven the decision and narrowed international air links to Israel.

Overview

  • Air India has extended its pause on Tel AvivDelhi flights through July 31, a schedule change confirmed to PTI by a senior executive overseeing the carrier’s Israel operations.
  • The carrier previously suspended the route through the end of May and then the end of June before announcing this further extension.
  • Airlines cite two main pressures behind route cuts: continuing security concerns in West Asia that limit safe routing and higher operational costs from fuel and longer flight paths caused by airspace restrictions.
  • Only Israeli carriers such as El Al, IsraAir, Arkia and Air Haifa plus a handful of other operators are flying to Tel Aviv, leaving far fewer seats and driving up fares for passengers.
  • The reduced service hits roughly 40,000 Indians in Israel who face harder, costlier travel for work, family visits or potential evacuation and could constrain labour mobility and repatriation options in the coming weeks.
