- Air India Express has opened bookings for direct Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi services that begin on Wednesday, July 15 with two weekly flights and rise to three weekly from July 29.
- The carrier published scheduled times for the overnight sector, departing Navi Mumbai at 02:55 and arriving Abu Dhabi at 04:35 with the return arriving Navi Mumbai at 10:20.
- NMIAL chief executive BVJK Sharma said freight operations will also start on July 15 and are expected to ramp up to about 18 weekly freighter flights.
- A senior CBIC customs official carried out an on-site readiness review of the airport on June 16, clearing a key regulatory step ahead of the international launch.
- The new airport, developed on 1,160 hectares with planned people-mover, metro and water links, is positioned to give travellers in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region easier access to international flights and reduce dependence on Mumbai’s existing airport.
