Air Canada and Unifor Ratify Four-Year Contract for 6,000 Customer-Service Workers

A 12% first-year wage increase with expanded pensions, richer health coverage and stronger job-security language is aimed at keeping frontline staff at the airline.

Overview

  • The collective agreement was ratified on Friday, June 12, 2026, covers roughly 6,000 Unifor Local 2002 contact-centre and airport employees and runs through February 28, 2030.
  • Workers will receive a 12% wage increase in year one followed by 3% raises in each of the next three years and a signing bonus on ratification.
  • The deal delivers significant pension improvements and broader benefits, including better mental-health coverage, higher dental and vision limits, expanded prescription support and more access to paramedical services.
  • The contract tightens job-security protections by renewing Jazz Aviation contract work, adding PAL Airlines work to Air Canada’s scope language and improving field-station rules such as paid travel time and employer-paid travel insurance.
  • Air Canada said this is the third employee group to ratify a contract so far in 2026, and union leaders credit member unity for gains that company and union say should help retention and stabilize frontline operations.
