Overview
- Dr Nikhil Tandon, who was assigned Monday by an AIIMS office order, will look after the director’s functions with immediate effect.
- The working arrangement lasts up to six months or ends sooner if a regular director is appointed.
- The order cites Rule 9(4) of the AIIMS Rules, 2019, and it says he will receive no extra pay for the added role.
- The change follows Dr M Srinivas’s move to NITI Aayog, the Union government’s policy body, which created the vacancy.
- Tandon is a Padma Shri awardee and senior endocrinologist at AIIMS, a choice reports say ensures continuity while the government decides on a full-time appointment.
