Ahmedabad Crime Branch Arrests Fugitive in 2021 Raipur Murder-Robbery

Investigators used technical intelligence to trace the suspect, with his handover to Raipur police now in process.

Overview

  • Police identified the accused as Ajaykumar Mishra, also known as Laxmisagar or Kimtishree Rajnarayan Mishra, and detained him in Ahmedabad’s Naroda area.
  • He is wanted for the 2021 killing of Shakuntala Devi under Tikrapara police station in Raipur, where cash and 30–35 tolas of gold were allegedly stolen.
  • According to police, the case began as a Rs 4 lakh contract to murder the victim’s elder son over a property dispute before the plan allegedly shifted to robbing and killing the hirer.
  • Investigators say Mishra and an associate, identified as Ketan alias K.T. Ramsundar Tiwari, strangled Shakuntala and later sold the stolen gold to a trader in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Crime Branch officials say the suspect evaded arrest for nearly five years by abandoning phones and ID use, moving between Goa, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai, and living under aliases.
