Agoura Road Closes Wednesday for Concrete Work on 101 Wildlife Crossing

Caltrans says crews need uninterrupted time to pour concrete on the Agoura Road span of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.

Overview

  • Agoura Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday between Rondell Street and Hydepark Drive to accommodate the concrete placement.
  • Free shuttle service will run every 30 minutes during the closure to assist pedestrians and cyclists around the work zone.
  • The crossing is designed to give mountain lions and other wildlife a landscaped path over the 101 Freeway to reduce isolation and roadkill.
  • The structure will span roughly 200 feet over multiple lanes with nearly an acre of native habitat on about 6,000 cubic yards of soil, with completion slated for 2026 after construction began on Earth Day 2022.
  • The approximately $90 million project is funded about 60% by private donations, including a $25 million gift, and drew broad support during environmental review with nearly 9,000 comments and only 15 opposed.
