Afghanistan To Host India For Three T20Is At Arun Jaitley Stadium

The board-level agreement shifts India’s September calendar into conflict with a planned Bangladesh tour, prompting broadcast and scheduling talks.

Overview

  • ACB and the BCCI have confirmed a three-match T20I series with Afghanistan designated as the host and all games set for September 13, 15 and 17 at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
  • The confirmed September 13–17 window effectively makes India’s proposed September 1–13 white-ball tour of Bangladesh unworkable unless that itinerary is revised.
  • ITW Universe holds the series’ media rights, FanCode has the digital rights, and the ACB is negotiating linear-broadcast deals with broadcasters including JioStar, Sony Sports and Zee Unite8.
  • The ACB has asked to move one match to September 14 for Ganesh Chaturthi and is discussing that change with the BCCI and rights holders, making match timing and spectator plans still subject to change.
  • The series is part of Afghanistan’s Future Tours Programme and continues the practice of staging ‘home’ fixtures at neutral venues in India while giving both teams T20 preparation ahead of the Asian Games.
