Overview

  • Afghanistan's disaster agency, which updated figures Monday, reported 110 dead and 160 injured over 12 days of flooding, landslides and lightning.
  • Authorities said 958 homes were destroyed, a further 4,155 were damaged, and more than 325 kilometers of roads were washed out.
  • Two key routes stay shut, including the Kabul–Jalalabad highway and the Salang Pass, as crews work to clear landslides and rockfalls.
  • In Pakistan, provincial officials counted about 45 deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 12 in Balochistan since late March, with new rain alerts in place for April 6 to 9.
  • Rural families face collapsed mud homes, lost crops and slow aid access in steep, flood-prone terrain where spring rains combine with snowmelt.
