Overview
- Fire broke out around 1 pm at Aether Industries’ facility in the Hoziwala compound of Sachin GIDC, where chemical containers ignited and repeatedly exploded.
- Flames extended to adjacent timber and plywood units, with Geeta Timber Plywood reported gutted and structural damage including a building collapse and shattered windows.
- Sixteen fire tenders and more than 100 firefighters from multiple stations responded, and police cordoned off over one kilometre around the site to manage access.
- Authorities said the blaze was brought under control after nearly three hours, with crews conducting cooling operations to prevent reignition.
- No casualties have been confirmed, and teams including the Forensic Science Laboratory, the Gujarat Pollution Control Board and the Factory Inspectorate have begun probing the cause.
