Aerolíneas Argentinas Launches Self-Funded Plan to Add 18 Jets and Install Fleetwide Wi‑Fi

The move signals a pivot to financial self-sufficiency after an audited 2024 operating profit.

Overview

  • The carrier will add four Airbus A330neo for long-haul routes and 14 Boeing 737 MAX (two MAX 8, four MAX 9 and eight MAX 10) for domestic and regional flying.
  • All aircraft will enter under operating leases, allowing expansion and renewal without large upfront purchases.
  • More than US$65 million is allocated to refurbish cabins, add seats and equip the entire fleet with Wi‑Fi, with service targeted to begin in 2027 starting on A330s.
  • Aerolíneas says 2025 will be its first year without Treasury support after posting a 2024 operating profit of US$56.6 million audited by KPMG, and it projects stronger results next year.
  • Reports point to phased deliveries from late 2026 through 2029, with final timing dependent on lessor contracts, board approvals and certification of the 737 MAX 10.
