Overview
- Aena reported 384.8 million passengers in 2025, up 4.2% year over year, and 1.53 million tonnes of cargo, a 7.9% increase.
- Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas led the network with 68.18 million passengers (+3%) and posted a cargo record of 840,331 tonnes.
- Barcelona–El Prat handled 57.5 million passengers (+4.4%), surpassing its 55‑million theoretical capacity, and set a freight record at 200,741 tonnes as expansion planning advances.
- Aena has begun runway works at Santiago–Lavacolla; after a 14.3% annual passenger drop linked to Ryanair cuts, the airport will fully close from 23 April to 27 May 2026.
- Regional performance diverged sharply: Valladolid fell 54.4% after Ryanair’s exit, Vigo grew 5.3% with cargo up 34% on Stellantis demand, Málaga reached 26.76 million (+7.4%), and Badajoz topped 100,000 passengers for the first time.
