Overview
- The Association for Democratic Reforms, which released its analysis Thursday, said national parties declared ₹6,648.56 crore from 11,343 donations in FY25, up 161% from the previous year.
- The BJP reported ₹6,074.02 crore from 5,522 donations, more than ten times the combined totals of the Congress, AAP, CPI(M) and the National People’s Party.
- Corporate sources provided 92% of all declared funds, and electoral trusts that pool company money and pass it to parties dominated the flows.
- Prudent Electoral Trust was the largest donor at ₹2,413.47 crore, including about ₹2,180.71 crore to the BJP, with Progressive, AB General and New Democratic trusts also channeling large sums mostly to the BJP and the Congress.
- The Congress recorded ₹517.39 crore, an 84% rise from FY24, and the BSP again reported no donation above ₹20,000 as in prior years.
