ADOT Announces Overnight Freeway and Ramp Closures Across Phoenix for Juneteenth Weekend

The work will repave and widen key corridors to improve roadway condition and capacity.

Overview

  • ADOT implemented multiple overnight closures starting the night of Friday, June 19 and running through early Monday, June 22 to complete pavement and widening work on major Phoenix-area freeways.
  • Northbound State Route 51 will be closed between the I-10 Mini-Stack and Indian School Road from 9 p.m. June 19 to 5 a.m. June 22 with all I-10 and Loop 202 ramps to SR 51 shut down.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 Santan will be closed between Alma School and Cooper roads from 10 p.m. June 19 to 5 a.m. June 22 for a widening project, and several on- and off-ramps in the area will be closed.
  • Loop 101 and Loop 202 ramp work includes a northbound Loop 101 closure between Shea and Princess Drive (10 p.m. June 19 to 4 a.m. June 21) and Red Mountain Freeway ramp closures to Loop 101 from 8 p.m. June 19 to 5 a.m. June 22, plus Lindsay Road closed at Loop 202 for daytime work on June 20.
  • Drivers should follow posted detours such as using northbound I-17 or local streets for SR 51 and Chandler Boulevard, Pecos or Germann roads for Loop 202, check AZ511 (website, app or 511) for live conditions, and expect extra travel time because holiday traffic and weather can change the schedule.
