Adobe Launches Photoshop AI Assistant in Public Beta on Web and Mobile as Firefly Adds Generative Editing

The rollout puts conversational controls at the center of photo editing with localized precision tools.

Overview

  • The AI Assistant is live today in Photoshop for the web and mobile, enabling edits described in natural language such as removing objects, changing backgrounds, refining lighting, or tweaking colors.
  • Photoshop on mobile supports voice-driven editing so users can request changes verbally while working on a phone.
  • A new AI Markup feature in the web beta lets users draw on an image and apply prompts to transform only the marked areas.
  • Firefly Image Editor now includes Generative Fill, Generative Remove, Generative Expand, Generative Upscale, and a one-click Remove Background tool, with global availability starting today.
  • Paid Photoshop users get unlimited AI Assistant generations through April 9 while free users receive 20 to start, and Firefly customers currently have unlimited generations across a catalog of 25+ models including options from Google, OpenAI, Runway, and Black Forest Labs.
