Overview
- ADNOC and RWE will assess LNG deliveries to Germany and Europe of up to 1 million tonnes per year for up to 10 years under a strategic collaboration agreement.
- The LNG framework also covers potential short-term trading and options for regasification capacity in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.
- RWE and Masdar signed an MoU to pursue battery storage in Germany, with Masdar exploring investment by 2030 in up to 1 GW of existing RWE projects and evaluating up to 1 GW of new projects by 2035.
- The contemplated LNG volume is described as up to 12 cargoes per year, equal to roughly 1.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
- The agreements were exchanged during Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Feb. 6 visit to the UAE and build on ADNOC’s current LNG supplies to Germany and previously announced Ruwais offtake deals.
