ADB Approves $48 Million to Complete Delayed Works in Balochistan Water Project

  • Funding covers the Churi Infiltration Gallery, development of the Siri Toi Dam command area, and watershed management activities that were stalled by budget constraints.
  • A piped water distribution network will be introduced in the Siri Toi command area to cut conveyance losses and improve service compared with open channels.
  • Once completed, the Siri Toi Dam will store 36 million cubic meters and support reliable irrigation across 16,592 hectares, including 1,839 hectares under khushkaba rainwater harvesting.
  • The project focuses on the Zhob and Mula river basins with ADB highlighting livelihood benefits, particularly for women engaged in agriculture.
  • Cofinancing is provided by the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific and the High-Level Technology Fund to bolster climate-resilient water management.
