Adani Unveils Rs 33,081 Crore Odisha Plan as State Launches 36 New Projects

The pledges signal a tighter state–industry push to start turning Odisha’s long-term growth plan into projects.

Overview

  • The Adani Group, which detailed the plan on Wednesday, set out three Odisha projects worth Rs 33,081 crore at a public groundbreaking in Khordha with an estimated 9,700 jobs.
  • A large thermal power plant near Cuttack will draw Rs 30,181 crore and aims to steady the regional grid and give factories and households more reliable electricity, with about 7,000 jobs projected.
  • A data centre at Info Valley in Bhubaneswar will cost Rs 800 crore and is meant to support AI, cloud services, and digital governance, with about 200 high-skill roles.
  • A cement unit near Cuttack will attract Rs 2,100 crore and is designed to supply local building needs so more roads, schools, and clinics can be built with materials made in the state, creating about 2,500 jobs.
  • Odisha also launched 36 projects valued at Rs 40,811 crore that officials say could create about 59,000 jobs, marking an execution phase after months of approvals and earlier rollouts across sectors such as textiles, metals, renewables, IT, and autos.
