Overview
- Adani Ports announced on Monday that its step-down unit Adani Harbour International FZCO, in a consortium with Argentina’s Meridian Group, won a 10-year marine services contract from Southern Energy SA after a global tender.
- The consortium has committed about USD 70 million to the Southern Energy FLNG project and will execute the award through Meridian Transportes Marítimos SA, a joint venture between the partners.
- Under the contract the team will provide end-to-end marine support for the floating LNG facility, including tugboat operations for LNG carriers, offshore logistics, supply runs and crew transfers using four tugboats, an anchor handling tug supply vessel and a crew boat.
- The Southern Energy FLNG project’s first phase is expected to produce 2.45 million tonnes of LNG a year, roughly 28 cargoes, and has been framed as Argentina’s first operational LNG export facility with commercial operations targeted by September 2027.
- The award gives Adani a South America foothold and could help scale Argentina‑to‑India LNG flows that publications say may reach up to 10 million tonnes a year from 2027, while prompting more permanent marine asset deployment and local logistics work to support exports.
