Overview
- ADAC issued the forecast on Monday, July 13, saying the start of NRW’s holidays will push the summer travel wave to a new peak as most German states are now on break.
- The club estimates roughly 550–600 construction-related traffic restrictions on NRW motorways and about 1,000 nationwide, which reduce road capacity and raise the chance of long delays.
- Traffic hotspots named by ADAC include the Cologne autobahn ring, the closed Bonn Nordbrücke area, Kreuz Kaiserberg at Oberhausen/Duisburg and corridors on the A1, A2, A3 and A4.
- Drivers are urged to avoid Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, choose Monday or Tuesday arrivals where possible, and travel outside peak hours to limit time lost.
- ADAC cautions that leaving motorways or following navigation diversions usually gives little time benefit, and that festivals plus cross‑border flows to Austria and Switzerland could add lengthy waits at borders.
