ADAC Warns of New Peak in Holiday Traffic as NRW Begins Summer Break

Overlapping commuter flows with about 550–600 motorway work zones in NRW will sharply raise delay risk for drivers this weekend, ADAC says.

  • Traffic hotspots named by ADAC include the Cologne autobahn ring, the closed Bonn Nordbrücke area, Kreuz Kaiserberg at Oberhausen/Duisburg and corridors on the A1, A2, A3 and A4.
  • Drivers are urged to avoid Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, choose Monday or Tuesday arrivals where possible, and travel outside peak hours to limit time lost.
  • ADAC cautions that leaving motorways or following navigation diversions usually gives little time benefit, and that festivals plus cross‑border flows to Austria and Switzerland could add lengthy waits at borders.
