Across India, Police Crack Rs 47-Crore Hack, China-Linked Trading Ring and Family SIM-Swap Theft

Investigators are tracing foreign handlers after partial recoveries.

  • Bengaluru’s CCB said hackers siphoned about Rs 47 crore from Whizdm Finance accounts in 1,782 transactions routed to 656 bank accounts, arresting two facilitators and recovering roughly Rs 10 crore.
  • Police in Bengaluru said Dubai-based operatives rented servers and hired Hong Kong hackers who tampered with API systems, with IP trails linked to a Webyne Data Centre and rented addresses.

  • In Delhi, a 25-year-old was held for allegedly stealing his father’s SIM to create a fraudulent UPI ID, with investigators recovering 100 grams of gold and freezing Rs 3 lakh as the money trail is examined.
