Overview
- PTI reported that BJP, AIMIM and Congress coordinated in Achalpur to ensure unopposed committee elections, with AIMIM’s Saida Bano Abdul Sattar chosen to lead the education and sports committee.
- Achalpur civic chief Rupali Mathane issued a written clarification denying any formal BJP–AIMIM alliance and noted there is no officially recognised AIMIM group in the council.
- State BJP general secretary Shivrai Kulkarni said an NCP–AIMIM bloc gave unconditional support to a BJP-backed panel, insisting there was no direct pact with AIMIM.
- Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis labeled such local arrangements unacceptable and directed that they be dismantled, following the earlier scrapping of a similar tie-up in Akot.
- The fragmented council—Congress 15, BJP 9, Independents 10, AIMIM 3, Prahar Janshakti 2, NCP 2—enabled pragmatic power-sharing that also drew dissent from local BJP MLA Pravin Tayade.
