ACB Flags ₹14.23 Crore Revenue Shortfall in Sathupalli Municipality

The bureau says the large shortfall signals serious lapses in revenue collection.

Overview

  • Following Tuesday’s surprise inspections at the municipal office and the commissioner’s home, investigators reported uncollected municipal revenue of about ₹14.23 crore for 2025–26.
  • Records reviewed by the ACB show ₹13.08 crore due under the Layout Regularisation Scheme, ₹1.02 crore in property tax, ₹8.72 lakh from shopping complex property tax, and ₹3.80 lakh in advertisement tax with no recorded collections.
  • Checks of staff mobile phones turned up suspicious transactions on the device of bill collector Naguibandi Narasimha Rao that involved manager M. Srinivas and others, according to the ACB verification.
  • The ACB says it is still verifying records to identify lapses and intends to submit a detailed report to the state government recommending action against responsible officials.
  • The case focuses on core revenue streams that fund basics like road work, sanitation, and local facilities, so any prolonged shortfall could slow routine services for residents.
