Absconding Jaipur Engineer Alleges He Is 'Blackmailed' as Probe Into Wife's April 7 Suicide Continues

In his first public video the husband accuses the wife's family of removing CCTV recordings and property papers and asks police for a transparent probe.

Overview

  • Jaipur resident Anu Meena died by suicide on April 7 and disturbing CCTV clips that allegedly show her husband assaulting her have circulated widely.
  • About 40 days after her death Anu's family lodged a dowry harassment complaint after recovering CCTV footage, audio clips and WhatsApp messages that they say show prolonged abuse and distress.
  • On May 27 the absconding husband, Gautam Meena, released a video claiming he is being blackmailed and alleging that DVR footage, jewellery, mobile phones and property documents were removed from the house.
  • Gautam is reported to be an Executive Engineer in the Public Works Department and has told authorities he will cooperate with the investigation while seeking protection of his job and children.
  • Police are actively investigating but key facts remain contested, with the authenticity and chain of custody for CCTV, WhatsApp screenshots and other material likely to determine any criminal case and shape public scrutiny of dowry and digital evidence practices.
