Overview
- Jurors on Thursday found Abdulmanon Aliev, 50, guilty of two counts of assault by penetration, three counts of sexual assault and attempted rape after a week-long trial at Inner London Crown Court.
- Prosecutors said he targeted the girl on June 16, 2025, used a phone translator to approach her, trapped her in a window seat and carried out a prolonged assault until the train reached London Fenchurch Street station.
- The victim got away at the station, told members of the public what happened and then reported it to police, and specialist officers have supported her and her family throughout the case.
- British Transport Police detectives reviewed hours of CCTV to track the suspect, and plain-clothes officers arrested Aliev in Peckham on June 27 before seizing the clothes he wore during the attack.
- Sentencing is scheduled for June 17, 2026, and a BTP detective called the assault one of the most abhorrent she has investigated while praising the victim’s courage in giving evidence.
