Overview
- Traffic on the Ulm-bound A7 will be blocked between Bad Brückenau/Wildflecken and Hammelburg on Saturday night, with the closure running from about 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday.
- Autobahn GmbH ordered the shutdown to fix damaged spots at the bridge’s expansion joint, which is the metal link that lets the roadway move with heat and load.
- Crews will also clean the central barrier in the same work zone, and the tight workspace on the deck leaves no safe way to keep the Ulm side open.
- Drivers will be sent onto marked detours U56 and U58, the Bad Kissingen/Oberthulba on-ramp toward Ulm will be closed, and one lane toward Fulda will stay open through the site.
- The work sits within a long-running bridge replacement that began in 2020, with a new roughly 460-meter span due by summer 2027 at about €102 million on a stretch that carries around 42,000 vehicles a day.
