A19 Wrong-Way Crash Driver Jailed for 12 Years Over Death of Passenger

The court said his drug use made the wrong-way, high-speed risk to others obvious.

Overview

  • Kane Farragher was jailed at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday for 12 years and nine months and was banned from driving for 13 and a half years with an extended test to follow.
  • He admitted causing the death of 24-year-old Taylor Jenkins by dangerous driving and related drug‑driving offences, and he was already disqualified at the time.
  • Prosecutors said his blood showed cocaine, MDMA, ketamine and cannabis over legal limits, indicating serious impairment behind the wheel.
  • Police said the BMW was flagged by an ANPR camera, he evaded a stop on the Felling Bypass by driving through a coned-off lane, and he hit speeds up to 136mph.
  • Officers ended the active pursuit when he went south on the A19’s northbound side, and he then crashed head-on into another car about a mile later, killing Jenkins and leaving a rear passenger with skull and rib fractures.
