Overview
- Autostrade per l’Italia reopened the A14 on Thursday with a contraflow setup, routing one lane per direction between Vasto Sud and Termoli toward Bari and between Poggio Imperiale and Vasto Sud toward Pescara.
- FS Group said the Adriatic rail link between Pescara and Foggia will restart gradually from 6 a.m. Friday with fewer trains and lower speeds through the slide zone, so delays and changes will continue.
- Palazzo Chigi prepared an initial emergency funding measure for approval in today’s Council of Ministers after two coordination meetings with Protezione Civile, RFI, Anas and Autostrade, and Minister Matteo Salvini visited the site.
- Protezione Civile reported the slide’s movement has slowed or paused, which allowed partial reopenings, but the SS16 remains shut and full restoration depends on geotechnical checks that will set the repair plan.
- Travel and freight disruptions remain significant with 37 long‑distance trains affected, long reroutes via the Foggia–Caserta line, and trucking groups warning of detours that add roughly 250 kilometers and steep cost increases.
