78-Year-Old Extra Dies After Fall on Los Javis’ New Film Set

The production reports full compliance with safety measures, with the cause of the fall still undetermined.

Overview

  • The victim was identified as Enrique G., a 78-year-old architect from La Hayuela who had been hired as an extra for La bola negra.
  • He fell on September 1 on a staircase in a non-rehabilitated area of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas campus, suffering severe head trauma.
  • An ambulance took him to the Torrelavega hospital and he was transferred to Hospital Marqués de Valdecilla, where he died on September 4.
  • The production company Los Esquiadores AIE says he had completed makeup and wardrobe but had not begun filming, and that the staircase had lighting, signage, a handrail, and required step width used by many that day.
  • Witnesses say it is unclear whether the fall resulted from a misstep or a medical event, and reports of possible Parkinson’s have not been confirmed.
