Overview
- A court charged 72-year-old Manickam Manohar on June 11 with six counts under the Protection from Harassment Act for allegedly sending abusive emails to an MP and a town council employee.
- Prosecutors say the emails were sent between August 19 and October 6, 2025 and included accusations such as ‘misusing’ power and ‘stealing’ directed at MP Hany Soh and at least one town council staff member.
- Charge sheets also allege earlier conduct including copies of abusive OneService feedback displayed publicly and the posting of multiple notices at Housing Board blocks in Woodlands in May and June 2024.
- Appearing in court, Manickam said he had written apology letters to the named individuals but disputed some of the accusations; his case is adjourned to July 9 for the next hearing.
- If convicted for using abusive words toward a public servant, he faces up to S$5,000 in fines and/or up to 12 months in jail, and police have warned members of the public to use official channels for grievances.
