Overview
- Authorities confirmed late Wednesday that officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. to a missing-child report on Steeplechase Way in Lake in the Hills.
- During the search a police officer located the 7-year-old unresponsive in a nearby neighborhood retention pond and began immediate life-saving measures.
- Paramedics from the Huntley Fire Protection District continued emergency care and transported the child to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, where the child was later pronounced dead.
