Overview
- Shasta County deputies responded to Turntable Bay around 11:22 a.m. Monday after reports of a child missing in the water.
- Investigators said the 5-year-old entered the lake without a life jacket and slipped underwater before family could pull the child out.
- A coordinated search by the sheriff’s office, Cal Fire, the U.S. Forest Service, CHP Air Operations, and the county dive team found the child at about 12:33 p.m.
- Medical personnel pronounced the child dead and the body was released to the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
