34 Arrested as Europe-Wide Raids Dismantle Cocaine Pipeline to Iceland

Authorities say the network exploited vulnerable couriers on commercial flights to move cocaine to Iceland.

Overview

  • Police in Spain, Iceland and Lithuania, supported by Europol and Eurojust, executed coordinated actions on 4 February that included 41 searches and seizures of phones, computers, cash, cryptocurrency wallets and tools for false suitcase compartments.
  • Arrests totaled 34 across multiple countries, including 20 in Iceland, seven in Lithuania, four in Spain, two in Belgium and one in Denmark.
  • Investigators report seizing more than 100 kilograms of cocaine along with 5,100 MDMA pills and about one kilogram of ketamine and methamphetamine.
  • Authorities identify a Russia-born suspect based in Lithuania as the alleged leader, with profits estimated above €4 million that were reportedly laundered through Lithuanian real estate.
  • The probe began in February 2025 after two Spaniards were stopped at Keflavík airport with rum bottles holding 8.4 liters of liquid cocaine, and 15 Spanish citizens now remain in prison in Iceland.
