3 Men Charged After Arundel Mills Mall Attack and Police Chase

Police report no ongoing threat to the public.

Overview

  • The confrontation near the Burlington entrance at Arundel Mills, which unfolded Saturday around 5 p.m., led a shopper to draw a handgun and a shot struck an alleged attacker in the wrist.
  • After the gunshot, the suspects fled in a black Nissan Altima, and officers pursued from Glen Burnie onto I‑97 and then I‑695 in Baltimore County, where a crash and a brief foot chase ended in three arrests aided by police aviation units.
  • Authorities on Monday identified the suspects as Brandon Eric Edwards Jr., 21, Daevone D’andre Johnson, 24, and Elijah Amontay Fisher, 20, and charged them with robbery, first-degree assault, and related counts, and a judge denied bail.
  • Police said five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including the wounded suspect, two others hurt in the crash, the assaulted shopper, and an Anne Arundel County officer injured in a separate crash.
  • Officers recovered the shopper’s handgun in the mall parking lot and his phone near Route 100 and Oakwood Road, the mall reopened to the public, and investigators are still working to determine motive and any prior ties between those involved.
