270 Coastal Management Files Remain Untransferred After Galicia Took Control

The Xunta has processed 127 permits under a unified digital system ahead of next month’s launch of a public coastal registry

  • The Spanish government transferred 585 coastal management files on July 1 but 270 remain pending review by Xunta technicians
  • Of the 127 titles resolved, 75 were in protective servitude zones and 52 in maritime-terrestrial areas, including 40 stemming from State-transferred files
  • Officials have received 1,644 digital consultations on the new coastal permit procedures since the unified e-application went live
  • On July 1 the Xunta replaced five paper forms with a single electronic application to accelerate processing of coastal use and occupation permits
  • A mid-September summit will bring all coastal municipalities together for technical training and coincide with the launch of a public registry of authorisations
