- Project Sommes began in August 2025 after Hamilton police linked local drugstore thefts to a wider network dating to February 2024.

- Police say stolen razors, nicotine gum, makeup and face creams were funneled to a Mississauga distributor and resold through wholesalers, including AG Liquidation in Brampton.
- Two suspects arrested in Vancouver after an alleged Shoppers spree are being transported to Hamilton, and warrants are outstanding for two others believed to have left the country.
- In total, 21 accused now face 175 charges, with ages ranging from 15 to 75 and several already on release orders, as multiple police services coordinated across Ontario, Quebec and B.C.
