1Password Lets Claude Log In Without Seeing Your Passwords

The integration lets 1Password inject approved credentials into web pages so Claude can complete signed-in tasks without the AI ever receiving or storing secrets.

Overview

  • 1Password shipped 1Password for Claude and a new Agentic Mode that let Claude request specific logins and one-time codes which 1Password injects into pages through a zero‑exposure channel.
  • Users must approve every credential request with biometric or equivalent verification and permissions are scoped to a single task and expire when the task ends.
  • The feature is live for Mac users and requires the 1Password desktop app and browser extension plus the Claude desktop app and Claude in Chrome, with Team and Enterprise admins required to enable it for their orgs.
  • At launch the connector supports usernames, passwords, and TOTP codes only and does not yet support social logins, passkeys, payment cards, or identity items.
  • Reporters verified real tasks such as a FreshDirect order, but researchers warn agentic automation raises new internal risks like persistent browser sessions and unexpected agent actions that will require session controls and governance.
