19-Year-Old Identified in Dorchester Shooting Death

Police are asking the public to submit anonymous tips through CrimeStoppers to help identify suspects in the active homicide probe.

  • Officers were called just after 7:30 p.m. Monday to 115 Milton Avenue in Dorchester and found a man with a serious gunshot wound behind the property at 6 Selden Street; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Boston Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Jalen J. Tavares of Lakeville.
  • Reporters at the scene saw a vehicle with a shattered rear window being towed and neighbors told reporters they heard four gunshots around the time of the incident.
  • Homicide detectives are leading a developing investigation and Boston Police have not announced any arrests.
